Steven Laureys is a Belgian-Canadian neurologist and neuroscientist holding the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Neuroplasticity at the CERVO Brain Centre (Laval University, Canada) since 2024. He also maintains positions as Professor at Laval University's Faculty of Medicine and Research Director at the Belgian National Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS). A pioneer in consciousness studies, Laureys established the Coma Science Group (2006) and GIGA Consciousness Unit (2014) at the University of Liège, Belgium, before co-founding the Hangzhou International Consciousness Institute (2015) and BRAIN-NM Neuromodulation Clinics (2023).
