Steven Koch

Steven Koch is a Senior Professor of Practice and Director of the MS Marketing Program at the C. T. Bauer College of Business, University of Houston. He holds a position in the Department of Marketing & Entrepreneurship and brings over two decades of industry experience in marketing, sales, and senior management to his academic role.

His educational background includes a B.S. in Marketing from San Diego State University and an M.S. in Marketing from California State University, Long Beach.

Mr. Koch specializes in applied marketing fields, with key interests in Internet Marketing, Ecommerce, Marketing Research, and New Product Marketing. His expertise stems from senior roles at major corporations including Pennzoil-Quaker State, Sega, Coca-Cola Foods, and Mattel Toys, where he led high-impact initiatives in brand strategy, consumer insights, and product innovation.

He teaches courses such as Internet Marketing and Ecommerce, New Product Marketing, Business Consulting Lab, and Marketing Administration in the EMBA program. His industry recognition includes being called a "consumer market whiz" by Lubricants World and the "Coca-Cola Foods whiz kid" by Brand Week.

While no scientific awards are listed, his teams received multiple industry excellence awards in marketing and advertising, and were recognized by Business Week for developing one of the "Top Products of 1999."

Mr. Koch advises students through the Business Consulting Lab and has served on several for-profit and non-profit boards. He is actively involved in experiential learning and curriculum development, particularly within the MS Marketing program.
