Steven Herran is a Lecturer in the Department of English at Lehman College, CUNY. He is a doctoral candidate at the CUNY Graduate Center, with prior degrees from Queens College (B.A., M.A.). His research focuses on Global and Postcolonial Literatures, Modernity frameworks (Secularity, Traditionalism, Comparative Religion), and Decolonial Theory. Current work examines 'traditions of transcendence' via East African migrant writers. Teaching interests include African novels, Diaspora literatures, Critical Race Theory, and Film Studies.
