Siraj Ahmed is a Professor of English at Lehman College, CUNY, and a member of the Committee on Globalization and Social Change at the CUNY Graduate Center. He holds a B.A. in English and Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in English & Comparative Literature from Columbia University.
His research focuses on postcolonial studies, colonial foundations of humanities, Enlightenment literature, and comparative literary theory. His major works include The Archaeology of Babel (2018, Scaglione Prize-winning) and The Stillbirth of Capital (2012). His writing has appeared in Critical Inquiry, Representations, and other leading journals.
He has received prestigious fellowships from the NEH, Mellon Foundation, and multiple academic institutions. His scholarship bridges literary analysis with critical examinations of colonialism's intellectual legacies.
