Steven Greenbaum

Steven Greenbaum is a CUNY Distinguished Professor of Physics at Hunter College and the CUNY Graduate Center, directing the Solid State NMR/EPR Laboratory. He holds affiliations with the Department of Physics and Astronomy under Hunter's School of Arts and Sciences.

His research focuses on spectroscopic studies of disordered solids for energy storage, particularly using magnetic resonance and synchrotron x-ray absorption to analyze battery materials. He has supervised 29 PhD students and 21 postdoctoral associates.

His recent publications emphasize nuclear resonance techniques for studying ion transport in polymers and atomic structures in battery electrodes. Collaborations span Brookhaven National Lab, NASA Jet Propulsion Lab, and global universities.
