Professor Eugene Stephane Mananga holds joint appointments as Professor of Physics and Chemistry at The Graduate Center, CUNY, and Professor of Physics and Nuclear Medicine at Bronx Community College (BCC). He is also an Adjunct Professor of Applied Physics at NYU and Visiting Faculty at Brookhaven National Laboratory. His interdisciplinary research focuses on solid-state NMR spectroscopy, computational methods (e.g., DFT), and materials science for energy storage systems like batteries and fuel cells. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles and received prestigious awards such as the 2022 JFRASE Award and 2025 PAESMEM.
Education: Ph.D. in Physics (CUNY), Postdoc in Nuclear Medicine (Harvard University/MGH). Additional training includes degrees from Harvard Medical School, MITx, and fellowships at Argonne, Berkeley, and Brookhaven National Labs.
Research Interests: Spin dynamics control in NMR, DFT-based material characterization, catalytic systems (e.g., ZSM-5 zeolite), and applications of Floquet-Magnus/Fer expansions in quantum systems. Recent work emphasizes combining NMR and DFT to unravel material complexities for renewable energy.
Awards: 2025 White House PAESMEM, 2024 SACNAS Distinguished Mentor, 2022 CUNY JFRASE, 2017 Henry Wasser Award, Kavli Fellow (2024-25).
Mentoring: Recognized for advancing underrepresented STEM students through programs like CUNY Academy’s STEM initiatives. Advised numerous students but specific names not listed in provided texts.
Labs & Affiliations: Computational Science Initiative at Brookhaven, NanoBioNYC at GC, and fellowships across major DOE labs.
