Steven Cherry is a Part-Time Instructor in the Department of English at the University of Pittsburgh’s Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. He also teaches film courses at Pitt's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. His affiliations include Carnegie Museums, Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Previously, he served as an adjunct professor at New York University (2014–2021) and the College of New Rochelle (2008–2014), focusing on creative writing and journalism. He was former director of TTI/Vanguard, a think tank advising Fortune 500 companies on future technologies, and a senior editor at IEEE Spectrum. His work has appeared in New Scientist, Interactive Week, and NPR, and he hosted the award-winning podcast Techwise Conversations (2009–2013).

- B.A. in Mathematics and Philosophy from Geneseo College
- M.F.A. in Creative Writing from The New School
Cherry’s research interests span intersections of technology, media, and creative writing. His professional experience includes journalism, podcasting, and academic teaching in diverse institutions. He resides in Pittsburgh’s Point Breeze neighborhood, where he is an avid climber and enjoys local cultural venues like the Manor Theatre and Dancing Gnome Brewing.
