Steven C Clemens

Steven C. Clemens is a Research Professor in the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences at Brown University, affiliated with the Climate & Environment research group. His work focuses on reconstructing monsoonal rainfall dynamics in Indian and East Asian systems using geochemical, isotopic, and sedimentological approaches. He holds a Ph.D. (1990), M.Sc. (1986), and B.A. (1983) from Brown University and Pomona College, respectively.

He leads the Benedum Stable Isotope Facility, analyzing carbon and oxygen isotopes in carbonate samples globally, supporting projects in marine geology, paleoceanography, and paleoclimate research.
