Steven Baicker-McKee is an Associate Professor at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University. Before joining academia, he practiced law for 23 years at Babst Calland. He specializes in civil procedure, federal litigation, and energy law. He holds a J.D. from William & Mary Law School (1987) and a B.A. from Yale University (1980). His research focuses on federal civil procedure, e-discovery reforms, and environmental litigation, reflected in works like Learning Civil Procedure and Federal Civil Rules Handbook. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including 'AV'-rating by Martindale-Hubbell and inclusion in The Best Lawyers of America. His scholarly contributions include articles on FRCP amendments, judicial management, and patent jurisdiction. He actively participates in professional committees and publishes the monthly Federal Litigator newsletter.
Dr. Baicker-McKee teaches courses such as Civil Procedure I & II and Pretrial Litigation Simulation. His professional affiliations include the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has authored over 30 articles and book chapters, with recent work addressing the 2015 FRCP changes and e-discovery cost allocation. He also advises on procedural issues and is a sought-after speaker on federal practice trends.
