Dr. Steve Walker is an Associate Professor in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Bristol and a Consultant Respiratory Physician at North Bristol NHS Trust. His research focuses on the management of pneumothorax, with a particular emphasis on clinical trials and guideline development.

He has led pivotal studies such as the HISPEC trial on ambulatory management of pneumothoraces and is spearheading upcoming trials like CONSEPT (conservative care for primary spontaneous pneumothoraces), PRINCE (needle aspiration vs. chest drain for secondary pneumothoraces), and LISP (observational study on secondary spontaneous pneumothoraces). He also contributes to major clinical guidelines, including the European Respiratory Society pneumothorax guidelines and the 2022 British Thoracic Society Pleural Disease Guidelines.
