Professor Steve Walkden-Brown is a Professor in Animal Health and Veterinary Sciences at the University of New England (UNE), affiliated with the School of Environmental and Rural Science within the Faculty of Science, Agriculture, Business and Law. His career spans academic and fieldwork, including prior government veterinary roles in Fiji and major international projects in India, Laos, and Vietnam. He specializes in disease control in livestock systems, with a focus on integrated parasite management in small ruminants and molecular diagnostics for poultry diseases like Marek’s disease.
Qualifications include a BVSc (Hons 1) and PhD from Queensland. His teaching encompasses veterinary epidemiology, parasitology, microbiology, and small ruminant production, emphasizing practical applications such as seasonal reproduction strategies and livestock productivity improvements.
