Steve Stogsdill is the Department Head of Communication and an Associate Professor in the College of Arts and Media at Henderson State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Communication from Texas A&M University (2009), alongside multiple master's degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a B.A. in Biblical Studies. With over 25 years of teaching experience, he has taught 24 Communication courses, including Intro to Speech, Organizational Communication, and Media Campaigns.

His research focuses on organizational power dynamics and historical communication strategies, such as Franklin D. Roosevelt’s political rhetoric. He actively contributes to professional organizations like the American Communication Association (ACA), presenting papers and reviewing academic work. His 2016 sabbatical exploring communication journalism and social media trends influenced the development of HSU’s Strategic Communication degree program.
Stogsdill emphasizes hands-on teaching, having evaluated over 10,000 student speeches, and integrates practical skills like media campaigns and digital tools into his courses. Beyond academia, he engages in ministry, family activities, and creative projects like home remodeling and mural painting.
