Dr. Martha S. Bergen serves as Professor of Christian Education within the Christian Studies Division at Hannibal-LaGrange College, where she has held full-time faculty status since 1990 after beginning as adjunct faculty in 1987. Her leadership includes chairing the Christian Studies Division (1997-2000) and directing ministry guidance since 1991.
Her academic foundation comprises:
- B.A. from Gardner-Webb University
- M.Div., M.R.E., and Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
Bergen's research integrates biblical scholarship with practical ministry, specializing in Jewish purification rituals, Old Testament exegesis (particularly Ezra-Nehemiah), and spiritual development frameworks for aging congregants. Her work consistently bridges theological analysis with church education applications, emphasizing historical context for modern religious practice.
