Tiberius Rata serves as Associate Dean of the School of Ministry Studies and Professor of Old Testament Studies at Grace College. His academic journey includes a B.S. in Urban and Regional Planning from California State Polytechnic University (1994), M.Div. from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (1997), Ph.D. in Old Testament from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (2003), and an M.S. in Higher Education from Grace College (2023).
Rata's research focuses on Old Testament Hebrew, Biblical Theology, and Homiletics. He is currently co-authoring a Proverbs commentary with Kevin Roberts. Notable works include commentaries on Jeremiah (2019), Ecclesiastes (2016), and Ezra-Nehemiah (2010), along with studies on covenant motifs in Jeremiah (2007).
His teaching emphasizes equipping students to passionately preach and teach Scripture, rooted in Ezra 7:10. He received the 2011 Alva J. McClain Award for Excellence in Teaching. Professional affiliations include the Evangelical Theological Society and Society of Biblical Literature.
Rata collaborates actively with peers like Walter C. Kaiser and Kevin Roberts, reflecting his commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship. His academic leadership and pedagogical focus prepare students to become church leaders grounded in Scripture.
