Dr. Kristin Helms is an Associate Professor of Biblical Studies and the Academic Director of the Department of Religion and Philosophy at Roberts Wesleyan University. She brings extensive academic training and practical ministry experience to her role, having taught at Princeton Theological Seminary, Missio Seminary, and the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.
Education

- B.A. in Biblical Studies and Biology – University of Evansville
Research Interests
Dr. Helms specializes in Old Testament studies, with a particular focus on the prophets, the post-exilic period, and the practical application of Scripture in ministry. Her scholarly work includes contributions to biblical encyclopedias and commentaries, especially on prophetic literature and theological concepts.
She is currently serving as a Section Leader for the updated edition of the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), where she oversees the readability review of key Old Testament books including 2 Kings, 1 & 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther.
Publications and Contributions
Her recent and forthcoming publications span across major biblical reference works, including The Wesley One-Volume Commentary on the Bible and the Encyclopedia of the Bible and its Reception, reflecting her deep engagement with both scholarly and ecclesiastical audiences.
Ministry and Outreach
Beyond academia, Dr. Helms has been actively involved in urban outreach and has developed Christian education programs for local churches, integrating her academic insights into practical ministry contexts.
