معرفی
Dr. Steve Simmons is a Lecturer in Energy and Environment at the University of Hull's Energy and Environment Institute. His research focuses on sedimentary processes, particularly using novel acoustic methods to study flow and sediment transport in submarine environments. He holds a PhD from Newcastle University and has extensive experience in academia and industry.
Education: BSc (Durham University), BEng (Newcastle University), MSc (University of Leeds), PhD (Newcastle University).
Research Interests: Turbidity currents, submarine canyon dynamics, offshore renewable energy impacts, and seafloor sediment transport. His work includes pioneering acoustic measurement techniques and has led to significant insights into deep-sea sediment movement and environmental hazards.
Recent research highlights include studies on the Congo Canyon and offshore wind farm sediment dynamics. He collaborates with global teams and leads projects funded by organizations like the Natural Environment Research Council and DEFRA. Current supervisions include PhD topics on turbidite systems and acoustic sediment monitoring.
Labs/Groups: Fluid Dynamics Group, Energy and Environment Institute.
