Steve Pudney is an Adjunct Professional Fellow and Teaching Associate in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Southern Cross University (SCU). With extensive experience in engineering project management and operations management, his research focuses on the effectiveness of education programs in industry contexts, particularly in critical infrastructure sectors. He specializes in developing postgraduate engineering management programs and corporate education initiatives for infrastructure organizations.
Dr. Pudney holds a BEMechEng(SAIT) and a PhD(QUT) in Infrastructure Asset Management. His career includes roles across five continents, managing projects for companies like BHP Billiton and Xstrata Technology. He has contributed to plant upgrades, new product development, and operational roles in manufacturing, mining, and minerals processing industries.
His research interests include sustainable infrastructure, asset decision modeling, and real options analysis. He is a Fellow of Engineers Australia (FIEAust) and a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng). His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in smart cities, infrastructure renewal, and evidence-based policy decisions.
Teaching and industry collaboration are central to his academic contributions, with a focus on micro-credentials and corporate training programs. His research outputs span topics from smart city collaboration to material science challenges in civil engineering.
