Professor Steve Musson is Head of the School of Archaeology, Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Reading. His primary research focuses on economic geography, particularly local government austerity, infrastructure investment, and urban regeneration. He has led projects on UK local government dynamics, university-community relations, and the spatial politics of infrastructure. Musson actively engages with media, offering commentary on urban and regional issues via radio, TV, and print. He has received teaching awards (2006, 2007, 2013) and supervised numerous postgraduate students. His work bridges empirical research using diverse datasets and policy analysis.
Education & Professional Roles: Joined University of Reading in 2005; Secretary of the Economic Geography Research Group (RGS-IBG, 2011–2014). Current teaching includes 'Geographies of Boom and Bust' and 'Neighbourhood Regeneration and Renewal.'
