Steve Mayer is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Yeshiva University, teaching undergraduate and graduate accounting courses. He holds a BS in Accounting from Baruch College (1981) and became a CPA in 1983. With over 40 years of professional experience, he served as audit partner, managing partner, and regional managing partner at prominent accounting firms, including Goldstein Golub Kessler LLP, Amper Politziner & Mattia, and J.H. Cohn. His expertise spans auditing, forensic accounting, due diligence for mergers, and strategic growth leadership.
He has held executive roles in firm mergers and acquisitions, including overseeing regional teams of over 1,500 employees. Post-retirement in 2019, he continues teaching at Yeshiva University, Baruch College, and Fairleigh Dickinson University, focusing on Accounting I/II, Cost Accounting, Auditing, and Management of Accounting Practices.
