Steve Kimble is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Towson University. His research focuses on conservation genetics, molecular ecology, and herpetology, particularly involving reptiles and amphibians like eastern box turtles and wood frogs. Key investigations include wildlife health assessments through microbiome analysis, ranavirus epidemiology, effective population size estimations, and landscape genetics.
Kimble teaches courses including BIOL206/206L Introduction to Ecology and Evolution, BIOL309 Genetics, BIOL405 Molecular Ecology, Evolution and Conservation, BIOL410 Molecular Biology Laboratory, BIOL467/567 Herpetology, and BIOL474 Molecular Techniques in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation.
His research employs genetic tools to address conservation challenges in herpetofauna, examining how landscape alterations, disease ecology, and population connectivity impact species survival. Recent publications demonstrate methodological innovations in conservation genetics and disease ecology.
