معرفی
Sterling Sudweeks is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at Brigham Young University's College of Life Sciences. His research focuses on ligand-gated ion channels as neurotransmitter receptors in synaptic transmission and their roles in pathological conditions such as epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease. He also investigates their pharmacological relevance in therapeutic contexts like general anesthetics and novel analgesics.
Education:
- B.S. in Microbiology (Molecular Biology), Brigham Young University, 1992
- Ph.D. in Pharmacology, University of Utah, 1997
Dr. Sudweeks' research spans the molecular and functional characterization of ion channel protein complexes in both central and peripheral nervous systems, with implications for neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders. His lab explores pharmacological targets for therapeutic interventions.
Teaching Interests: Physiology, Pharmacology, Biophysics, and Neuroscience.
Labs:
