Stephen Welsh, M.F.A. from Temple University, serves as Director of Dance and Lecturer of Dance and Education at Eastern University's College of Arts and Humanities, Dance Department. He joined Eastern in 2005 as a full-time visiting faculty member.
His professional expertise encompasses:

With decades of professional experience in New York City and Philadelphia, Welsh has performed with Anna Sokolow, Jeanne Ruddy, Dance Fusion, and in works by Doug Varone and Moses Pendleton. His choreographic projects have secured major grants including Rockefeller Foundation, PCA, Five-County Cultural Arts, and Pew Foundation funding. He regularly presents at the American College Dance Festival and recently performed in Claire Porter's work (2013 Guggenheim award-winning choreographer).
Welsh serves on the board of Indigenous Pitch, developing grant-funded dance outreach for at-risk youth. His extensive teaching portfolio spans Swarthmore College, University of the Arts, Bryn Mawr College, University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, and multiple community colleges and high schools across the Philadelphia region.
