Stephen W-K. Chiu

Stephen W-K. Chiu is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, located in Shatin, Hong Kong. His research focuses on Hong Kong, China, and broader East Asia, with projects addressing state enterprise restructuring in Northeastern China, flexible employment in Hong Kong, and traditional Chinese medicine in Hong Kong. He teaches courses on Economy and Society in Modern East Asia, Globalization, and Sociology of Development.

Education: Ph.D. Dissertation titled "The State and the Financing of Industrialization in East Asia: Historical Origins of Comparative Divergences". Personal involvement includes promoting sociology in high schools and family life with his wife Doreen and three children.
