Stephen VanSlyke

Stephen VanSlyke is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Nursing at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). He holds multiple degrees from UNB, including a Bachelor of Nursing (1987), Diploma in Administration (1995), Master’s in Nursing (2002), and Diploma in University Teaching (2004). His research focuses on mental health nursing (specifically chronic/persistent mental illness and dialectical behavior therapy), nurse-client relationships, and family nursing.

His academic contributions include a co-authored book chapter on personality and impulse-control disorders (2008) and an unpublished master’s thesis on patient satisfaction in mental health services (2002). Teaching responsibilities include clinical courses (N2155, N2063, N4123) and classroom instruction on helping relationships and family challenges. He actively participates in committees such as the Faculty of Nursing Library Committee and UNB Senate Technology Services Committee. Community engagement includes coaching, political canvassing, and church involvement.
