Stephen Seliger is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He serves as an attending physician at both the Baltimore VAMC and the University of Maryland Medical Center, and holds a secondary appointment in Epidemiology & Public Health. Dr. Seliger’s work bridges clinical nephrology and cardiovascular research, focusing on the interplay between chronic kidney disease (CKD) and age-related cognitive/physical decline, cardiac biomarkers, and polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD).

His research includes:
- Cognitive and Physical Function in CKD: Principal Investigator for a multi-center exercise training trial (NCT01462097) examining neurocognitive and physical outcomes in older adults with CKD.
- Cardiac Biomarkers in Aging: Co-Principal Investigator for a biomarker-based heart failure prevention trial.
- Polycystic Kidney Disease: Director of the Baltimore PKD Center Clinical and Translational Core (NCT01873235) and Site Investigator for the TAME-PKD metformin trial (NCT02656017).
Dr. Seliger is actively involved in editorial leadership as an Associate Editor of the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology and member of the Circulation and American Journal of Kidney Disease editorial boards. He has contributed to multi-center clinical trials and NIH-funded research on renal-cardiac-cognitive interactions.
