Stephen Nash is a Visiting Associate Professor at Stony Brook University's Department of Art, affiliated with the Department of Anatomical Sciences in the School of Medicine. He specializes in Scientific Illustration, Biological Illustration, and Medical Illustration. His work focuses on primate conservation, anatomical representation, and the intersection of art with scientific communication.
Education: M.A. from the Royal College of Art, London, UK. Additional training includes Medical, Scientific and Technical Illustration from Middlesex University and Natural History Illustration from the Royal College of Art.
Research interests include comparative anatomical illustration, the history of primatology in art, and the application of imagery in conservation education. His notable contributions include illustrating every recognized primate taxon, which were featured in the Handbook of Mammals of the World (2019).
Awards include recognitions from the American Society of Primatologists (2004), Primate Society of Great Britain (2006), International Society of Primatologists (2014), and Colombian Primatological Society (2018).
