Graz University of Technologyمعرفی
Stephen Mark Barnett is a distinguished academic currently serving as Royal Society Research Professor, Cargill Chair of Natural Philosophy at Glasgow University, and Professor of Quantum Theory at Glasgow University since 2013. He has held significant roles including Professor of Quantum Optics at Strathclyde University (1996-2013) and earlier positions at King's College London and Oxford University.
- Education: BSc (1982) and PhD (1985) in Physics from Imperial College London
- Affiliations: University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde
His research focuses on foundational aspects of quantum mechanics, including quantum phase, quantum information theory (generalized measurement, state comparison), and optical angular momentum. He has pioneered work in quantum optics and quantum theory, influencing key developments in the field.
Notable scientific awards include the Dirac Medal and Prize (2013), Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award (2007-2012), and the Maxwell Medal and Prize (1994). He was elected Fellow of both the Royal Society (2006) and the Royal Society of Edinburgh (1996).
