Stephen Karian is a Professor in the Department of English at the University of Missouri, College of Arts and Science. He holds a PhD and MA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BA from Oberlin College.

His recent publications explore Swift's manuscript poetry, the challenges of the English Short-Title Catalogue (ESTC), and the circulation of Swift's writings. He is co-editor of the Swift Poems Project, an electronic archive of Swift's poetry, and is working on the Oxford Edition of Alexander Pope's writings.
