Stephen Johnston is a Professor in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University (ASU) and Director of the Center for Innovations in Medicine at The Biodesign Institute. He holds a 50% appointment as an ASU professor and serves as CEO of Calviri, Inc. His research focuses on groundbreaking solutions in biomedicine, including cancer eradication via universal preventive vaccines and health futures through continuous health monitoring systems. He pioneered technologies like the gene gun, genetic immunization, and immunosignaturing. With over 150 journal articles and $85M in grants from agencies like DARPA, he leads a team of ~25 at Calviri. Johnston earned his PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1981.
