Dr. Stephen J. Laumakis is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota. He has been affiliated with the institution since 1990 and previously served as Director of the Aquinas Scholars Honors Program. His academic focus spans Medieval philosophy (particularly Thomas Aquinas), Buddhist philosophy, Chinese and Japanese philosophy, and comparative studies of Eastern/Western mysticism and ethics. He holds a PhD from the University of Notre Dame, an MA from Villanova University, and a BA from St. Charles Seminary.

Teaching: He teaches courses like The Person and the Good and Philosophy of Sport, emphasizing critical thinking and Catholic intellectual tradition. Upcoming 2025 courses include PHIL 110 and PHIL 218.
