Stephen Hague, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of History and Director of the Hollybush Institute at Rowan University. He specializes in modern European history, focusing on Britain’s global interactions from the eighteenth to twentieth centuries, and the intersection of architecture, material culture, and politics. His work includes the book The Gentleman's House in the British Atlantic World, 1680-1780 (2015) and the co-edited volume At Home in the Eighteenth Century (2022).
Dr. Hague holds a D.Phil. from Oxford University, an M.A. from the University of Virginia, and a B.A. from Binghamton University. He teaches courses on British history, imperialism, European history, and historical methods. Current research projects include Hobbits and Bohemians: The Inklings, the Bloomsbury Group, and the Modern World and an examination of 'Greater Britain' in the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries.
His publications explore themes such as domestic space, material culture, and interdisciplinary approaches to history. As Director of the Hollybush Institute, he contributes to academic initiatives and community engagement within the College of Humanities & Social Sciences.
