Stephen H. Marshall is an Associate Professor of American Studies in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin, holding a PhD in Government from Harvard University (2002).

His research specializes in Political Theory with concentrated focus on American Social and Political Thought and African-American political thought. Dr. Marshall teaches foundational courses including Black Political Thought (AMS 391/AFR 386C), Politics of Black Life (AFR 350D/AMS 370), and Black Studies Theory, examining intersections of race, power structures, and political identity in American society. His curriculum consistently addresses systemic inequality, historical resistance movements, and contemporary Black political philosophy through interdisciplinary frameworks.
