Allison Puglisi is an Assistant Professor of History at Vassar College since 2022, affiliated with multiple departments and programs, including Africana Studies, American Studies, Environmental Studies, and Women, Feminist, and Queer Studies. Her research focuses on Black social movements, gender, ecology, and urban space, with a specialization in Black environmental thought in New Orleans. She teaches courses on Black politics, gender and sexuality, and environmental justice.
Education:
- PhD in American Studies (with a certificate in Gender and Sexuality Studies), Harvard University
- BA in History, Dartmouth College
Her current book project, Redefining Residency: Black Environmental Thought in New Orleans, examines how Black women housing activists shaped early Black environmental organizing. Recent honors include the Suzy Newhouse Center for the Humanities Fellowship (2024–2025) and an Honorable Mention from the American Studies Association for her doctoral dissertation.
