Professor Stephen Garnett is a globally recognized expert in conservation management, Indigenous Peoples' roles in conservation, and taxonomic list governance at Charles Darwin University's Faculty of Science and Technology, specifically the Research Institute for Environment and Livelihoods. He has led Australian bird extinction risk assessments since 1990, created the first global map of Indigenous Peoples' lands, and developed taxonomy governance guidelines.
