Peter Kyne

Dr Peter Kyne is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the Faculty of Science and Technology within the Research Institute for Environment and Livelihoods at Charles Darwin University. He is a conservation biologist focusing on marine and freshwater systems, with expertise in fish biology, fisheries bycatch mitigation, and fish conservation, particularly for chondrichthyan fishes (sharks, rays, ghost sharks). His work addresses critical knowledge gaps in biodiversity management and extinction risk assessment.

He supervises multiple PhD students on topics like river shark movement ecology, marine protected areas, and rhino ray conservation in Indonesia.
