معرفی
Dr. Stephen Fitter is an NHMRC Grant-Funded Researcher (B) at the University of Adelaide's School of Biomedicine under the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. His research focuses on skeletal development, mTORC1 signaling pathways, and their roles in bone marrow stroma, hematopoiesis, and pediatric leukemia. He investigates how mTORC1 regulates mesenchymal stem cell differentiation, osteoblast function, and metabolic interactions with B-cell development. His work also explores mechanisms of chemoresistance in acute lymphoblastic leukemia and bone marrow microenvironment dynamics in multiple myeloma.
Education and Affiliations
- Member of the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI)
- Supervises Masters and PhD students in biomedical research
Research Interests
His projects include:
- Role of mTORC1 in skeletal development and mesenchymal lineage determination
- Osteoblastic mTORC1's influence on B-cell development and glucose metabolism
- Pathogenesis of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia through bone marrow stroma interactions
- Metabolic cross-talk between bone and systemic energy regulation
Articles Overview
Recent work highlights mTORC1's dual role in bone biology and immune processes, with studies on chemoresistance mechanisms in leukemia and metabolic effects of dietary interventions. His research bridges bone physiology, oncology, and metabolic disorders, emphasizing signaling pathways' therapeutic potential.
Labs and Teams
Conducts research in collaboration with SAHMRI and the University of Adelaide's biomedical teams, focusing on translational studies in hematologic malignancies and skeletal biology.
