Stephen Dorling is a Professor of Meteorology at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the School of Environmental Sciences. He holds additional roles as Director of Innovation in the School and Chief Executive Officer of Weatherquest Ltd, a weather and climate consultancy. His research focuses on the interplay between weather, climate, and environmental challenges in food, energy, and water security. Key projects include Climate Resilience in the UK Wine Sector (CREWS-UK), fog studies in the Indo-Gangetic Plains (FOGGI), and the Berry Predictor initiative. He has authored the textbook Operational Weather Forecasting and leads annual meteorology fieldcourses in the Lake District. Dorling is a Chartered Meteorologist and active in industry collaborations, including WineGB’s R&D Group and the Energy Systems Integration Programme. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and environmental sustainability.
Education: BSc/PhD in Geophysical Sciences from UEA (1986–1992). Visiting Research Fellow at Environment Canada (1993).
