Stephen DiRado is a Professor in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Clark University, serving as Gallery Director. He holds a B.F.A. from Massachusetts College of Art (1981). His work focuses on photography and documentary filmmaking exploring human connections, community dynamics, and existential themes.
Research & Creative Work: DiRado’s practice includes long-term photographic series (e.g., Bell Pond, Mall Series, With Dad) and films like Summer Spent and JUMP. His work interrogates themes of memory, identity, and social interaction through intimate portraits and observational narratives. Recent projects include celestial imagery and a four-decade retrospective at the Fitchburg Art Museum (2025).
