Stephen Chung

Dr. Stephen Chung is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in Hematology and Oncology. He is affiliated with the Division of Hematology and Oncology and the Children’s Research Institute. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), particularly studying hematopoietic stem cells and identifying therapeutic targets. Clinically, he cares for patients with clonal hematopoiesis, MDS, and AML.

His lab investigates clonal hematopoiesis and its clinical implications in cardiovascular diseases and cancer progression.

Articles: His recent work includes studies on TET2 mutations in heart failure, non-selective β-blockers’ effects on stem cell regeneration, and RAS-mutant leukemia resistance to venetoclax. These highlight his focus on translating molecular insights into clinical applications.
