Stephen Childs is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Sunderland. He teaches pharmaceutical, physical, and analytical chemistry across undergraduate and postgraduate programs including MPharm Pharmacy, BSc Biopharmaceutical Science, and MSc Drug Discovery and Development. As a Chartered Chemist (CChem) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), his expertise spans the analysis of medicines, chemical profiling, and science outreach initiatives.
Research interests focus on LC-MS and NMR metabolomics, antimicrobial compound detection, and the role of biological thiols in cancer cell models. His recent publications highlight innovations in hydrogel formulations, residual crosslinker analysis, and metabolomic techniques applied to prostate cancer research.
