Prof Stephen Bullivant is a Professor of Theology and the Sociology of Religion at St Mary’s University, where he also directs the Benedict XVI Centre for Religion and Society. He holds dual doctorates in Theology (Oxford, 2009) and Sociology (Warwick, 2019). His research focuses on global religious trends, nonreligion, and Catholic Church dynamics, with notable work on disaffiliation, secularization, and quantitative methodology.

Awards include the Catherine Mowry LaCugna Award (2010) and multiple research prizes. He advises on safeguarding statistics for the Catholic Church and collaborates with institutions like UCL and the Vatican’s Institute for Advanced Studies.
