Stephen Bull is a Senior Lecturer in Photography at the University of Brighton, within the School of Art and Media. He combines academic writing with artistic practice, focusing on photography's cultural and social dimensions. His research explores celebrity, media, and art history, culminating in publications like Photography (2010) and A Companion to Photography (2020). He previously led photography courses at the University of Portsmouth (2004–2009) and University for the Creative Arts Farnham (2010–2013).
