Aaron Schuman is an Associate Professor of Photography & Visual Culture at the University of the West of England, Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries, and Education (ACE). He is also the Programme Leader of the MA Photography program.

Schuman is an artist, photographer, writer, curator, and educator who has exhibited internationally at institutions such as Tate Modern, the Institute of Contemporary Arts London, and the Centre for British Photography. His work explores intersections of visual culture, cultural studies, and digital media, often informed by art historical and curatorial frameworks.
He has authored critically acclaimed photobooks including HEFT (2024), SONATA (longlisted for the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2023), and SLANT, and has contributed writings to publications like Frieze, ArtReview, and Aperture. Schuman has curated exhibitions such as "Indivisible: New American Documents" and "Whatever Was Splendid: New American Photographs".
