Judit Gellér

Judit Gellér is an Assistant Professor at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), where she has taught in the Photography MA program since 2014. She also serves as a contemporary curator for the MaDok-programme at the Museum of Ethnography (since 2022). Previously, she was a lecturer at the PreMOME Design Culture Course (2014–2021) and a curator at the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center (2015–2021). She holds a PhD in Film, Media, and Contemporary Culture from ELTE University (2022), complemented by degrees in Design and Art Theory (MOME) and Horticulture (Corvinus University of Budapest).

Her research explores contemporary photography, emphasizing private photo archives, photobooks, and artistic reinterpretations of historical collections. She investigates how personal and communal narratives shape visual culture, particularly through Hungarian and Central European lenses.

Her publications reflect a focus on photographic theory, exhibition curation, and cultural critique. Recent works analyze photobooks, digital transitions in photography, and socio-political themes in visual art, often highlighting cross-cultural dialogues and pedagogical innovations.

She contributes regularly to Fotóművészet magazine and HVG – A mű, and has organized international workshops and exhibitions, such as the OFF Academy collaboration in Bratislava. Her curatorial projects often bridge academic research and public engagement.
