Associate Professor Stephen Brighton is affiliated with the Department of Anthropology at the University of Maryland. He specializes in historical archaeology and diaspora studies, focusing on Irish immigrant communities in North America and rural Ireland. His work integrates transnational history, material culture analysis, and contemporary archaeological theory.

He has published extensively on topics such as the material manifestations of Irish identity and the archaeology of immigrant labor settlements.
