معرفی
Stephen Brickley is a Professor of Systems Neuroscience at Imperial College London, affiliated with the Department of Life Sciences within the Faculty of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on neurosciences, cellular nervous system dynamics, and integrative systems biology. Key affiliations include the Anaesthesia, Sleep and Pain group, the Centre for Neurotechnology, and the Integrative Systems Biology initiative.
His research interests span neurophysiology, GABAergic and histamine neurotransmission, circadian rhythms, and neural circuit dynamics. Recent work emphasizes thalamic inhibition mechanisms, synaptic plasticity, and the role of neurotransmitters in sleep regulation. He has contributed to advancing neurotechnology through optogenetic and imaging techniques, as well as drug development for neurological conditions like epilepsy.
Publications highlight his exploration of histamine-GABA co-transmission, thalamic relay neuron function, and the molecular basis of sleep architecture. His studies often bridge basic neuroscience with translational research, addressing mechanisms underlying consciousness, anesthesia, and neurological disorders.
