Dr. Stephen Benham is a Professor of Music Education at the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University. He holds a Ph.D. from the Eastman School of Music, an M.M. from the University of Michigan, and a B.S. from the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on string pedagogy, cultural issues in music education, and increasing music access for underserved populations. He has authored influential works such as the ASTA String Curriculum and Yes You Can!, and serves as a leader in music education organizations internationally. Dr. Benham has been recognized with prestigious awards including the 2024 Duquesne President’s Faculty Award for Excellence in Scholarship and the Marvin J. Rabin Community Service Award.
