Stephen Beckerman

Stephen Beckerman, OD, FAAO is a part-time Assistant Professor at the Illinois College of Optometry since 1983. He specializes in Pediatrics/Binocular Vision and Sports Vision, supervising pediatric/binocular vision clinics and teaching binocular vision laboratories.

• Undergraduate: Applied Science in Electrical Engineering, Washington University in St. Louis (1975-1978)
• Optometry Degree: SUNY College of Optometry (1978-1982)
• Fellowship: Illinois College of Optometry (Pediatrics and Low Vision)

Dr. Beckerman has worked with professional athletes in baseball, basketball, soccer, and Junior Olympic games. He maintains a private practice at Glenview Vision Care, an externship site for ICO students.

His research focuses on Sports Vision Testing, Binocular Vision Disorders, and Low Vision Applications. Publications span from 1977 to 2016, emphasizing vision training, lighting adaptation, and visual performance metrics in athletic populations.
