Professor Stephen Barber serves as Head of the Department of Innovation & Management and holds a Professorship in Global Affairs at the University of East London's Royal Docks School of Business and Law. He leads staff, academic programs, and strategic planning, with prior roles including Assistant Dean at Regent’s University London and Director of MBA programs at the University of Bedfordshire. A Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he specializes in political economy, public policy, and governance.
Education: BA (Hons), PGCHE, MA, PhD, and PFHEA. Research focuses on Brexit, the fourth industrial revolution, and governance, with contributions to parliamentary inquiries and BBC Radio 4’s documentary ‘The Case for Doing Nothing’. External roles include Visiting Professor at the University of Cagliari (2022) and external examining at City University and UCL.
Research interests bridge political economy and public leadership, with publications on topics like decision-making biases and technology governance. He consults for commercial and non-profit organizations and coordinates the Erasmus+ project on legal education modernization.
