Stephen B Aley is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), with affiliations in Bioinformatics and Computational Science. His research focuses on molecular biology and biochemistry of human parasitic protists, utilizing genomic and proteomic analyses (including genome assembly/annotation and comparative genomics). He is also a faculty member in UTEP’s Pathobiology and Bioinformatics graduate programs.
Dr. Aley specializes in advancing undergraduate STEM education through programs that develop quantitative skills and integrate authentic research into mainstream curricula across STEM disciplines. He currently serves as Associate Vice President for Research, supporting faculty in crafting competitive research proposals.
